My brother Said used to be a big Tintin fan growing up and I used to borrow his comic books occasionally whenever I felt like digging into some action filled adventure. What I remember most about reading Tintin (or "Kuifje" in Dutch) is that it made me feel a little bit sad, mainly because Tintin lacked the emotions necessary for me to be able to relate him as a human being. I felt like he was sort of mechanical in a way, too stuffy and too nerdy, but I really admired him for his curiosity, courage, persistence and sense of adventure. I was just a kid, so I definitely wasn't interested in relating to him from either a gender or sexual perspective. Now some dimwits out there are claiming that Tintin is gay, because supposedly he never expressed having interest in females and also because he lived with a man.
I think that's a bunch of BS.
Happy Birthday Tintin!
Of course Tintin's gay. Ask Snowy - Times Online
His adventures have sold more than 200 million copies and been translated into 50 languages, and this weekend he celebrates his 80th birthday. But how well do we really know Tintin? One thing's for certain...
