My friend Michael sends......
This opinion was posted in today’s newspaper up here in Flagstaff, I'm sure this is going on everywhere in our “UNITED” States (for a lack of a better term) and has different proposition numbers attached but all trying for the same thing. Hopefully this persons perspective may cause more people to think about the consequences of their vote and view this in a different light.

To the editor:
I don't think most people realize that banning gay marriage would be like making artificial limbs illegal. Sure, the majority of people don't need them; and those who do need one don't have a choice. But if someone gets an artificial limb, they will have the ability to live to the fullest of their potential. Imagine though if the public thought that someone having a fake limb was just unnatural and not how life was intended. So the majority votes against people being able to have them. Does someone having a prosthetic limb affect how anyone else lives aside from the person that needs one? No. I'm sure they'd use an argument that they voted against the limbs because they are for a more "traditional" picture of how a person should be. But why are they even given the opportunity that bans something that doesn't affect them, and in turn deny someone else pleasure that harms no one? And no, I'm not comparing same-gender marriage to having a disability. However most people won't stop to think about how ridiculous this argument is until they are given a visual of what exactly their close-mindedness is doing. Next time you see someone in a wheelchair or on crutches, go knock them down. After all, you get to decide on how they get to live their life, right? If you don't like that they are doing their best to live their life, then you should get to take it away, right?
