If you're anything like me, you find yourself firmly resisting that which causes a negative impact on your existence in order to ensure your own survival and the survival of everything else in your life that represents good. And by that I mean for instance, resisting the multitude of political ideologies that are out to get us for the sole purpose of destroying everything standing in their way or slows down the unnatural flow and advancement of their political agendas, either through careful diplomatic persuasion or by brutal force.
When "Arabian" Lore is revived...
There is a spark of hope all around us that needs to be cultivated and nurtured so we can see it blossom. The time is now ladies and gentleman. It is up to us to help spread the word and make it known that we are indeed at the dawn of a new and improved "Arabian" era. At time where people are increasingly no longer afraid to speak their minds against the ruling despots and their corrupt establishments,
even when they are fully aware of heavy price they (might) have to pay.
Can I just tell you something?
About five years ago, when I was managing a gift department for the company I currently work for, I had an experience which made me aware of this need for an
"Arabian" revival, although I must admit I didn't quite understand it at the time.
It was the holiday season, and I was putting together a Hanukkah display one morning when one of my colleagues walked by. I did not know her personally, because she had just started working there a few days before, but I greeted her with a "good morning" and a smile just like I greeted everyone else walking by (yeah you might not think so, but I'm friendly :D).
So anyway, the girl greeted me back, but I could swear she gave me a dirty look and quickly looked away with a snotty attitude, it was just too obvious. I thought "hey screw you, lady!" and went on with my morning projects putting out my new arrivals on display, but little did I know we were going to become good friends later on.
Shortly after we opened for business that day, a lady walked up to me and began to express how pleased she was with this year's Hanukkah display, saying that "......always does such a wonderful job" of course referring not to me but to the company I work for. I smiled and thanked her, but she moved on without buying a thing. (=
But to get back to my new friend at work, I found out she was Palestinian, but she hardly spoke Arabic and she referred to everything Arabic as "Arabian". I found this a little bit annoying at first, because it sounded wrong somehow, but I was fascinated by it (and this girl) at the same time, so I never said anything about it...I thought I was going to get to know her first.
And to make a long story short, now years later, not only do I hear others using the word "Arabian" instead of "Arab" or "Arabic" more and more, I'm finding myself doing it too. The first time I caught myself doing it, I shocked myself....I (a Moroccan-Dutch-Berber) confused myself. Then I started examining why?
After much thinking, I came to the conclusion that in this horrible political times we live in, where pretty much everything Arabic has been marred and tarred with bloody Arab/Muslim terror, those of us who have lived and experienced the good and wholesome side of Arab culture regardless of our own individual ethnic backgrounds, find ourselves longing for the good ole days more and more. Thinking back almost with a sense of poetic romance, listening to the sweet seductive sounds of Arabic music, the belly dancing, the food, the movies, the clothing, the architecture.....sighhh in short, the "Arabian" ambiance in all its splendor, and even the rhythmic recital of Koranic verses long before their sound started sounding threatening rather than music to our ears, despite the fact that the true meaning of those Koranic words were and still to this day eludes most of us.
Sighhh....if only I were a poet, I would write you a worthy poem to express my deepest sentiments. Heck, I even gave it a try this beautiful morning, but unfortunately this is all I could come up with.

I'm sure I'm not the only one taking note
of the "Arabian" revival of all things good
as an attempt to oppress the evil
that is continuously tormenting
not just the "Arabian" soul
but our planet as a whole
and in the end
there will be a new beginning
Andy my friend, thanks for this inspiration. (=

Turbulent
times we
live in, no
doubt.
But like this
thundering
tempest,
our life
flow will
eventually
be reunited
with the
larger body
that we so
crave.
It's just a
matter of
gravity...
Can't you
feel it
growing,
day by day,
People!
