First off, the Sahara is Moroccan! So let's get that straight.
Chavez is part of the band of rogue brothers who consider the US as enemy numero uno and Morocco being a traditional ally of the US is therefore their enemy too, so what do they do to punish Morocco for that? They go ahead and recognize the Sahara as an independent state belonging to a bunch of thugs known as the Polisario, just to stab Morocco in the back.

RABAT (Reuters) - Morocco said on Thursday it had closed its embassy in Venezuela in protest over Caracas's support of the Polisario Front, which seeks an independent state in Western Sahara that Rabat claims as its territory.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the decision followed "increasing hostility by the Venezuelan authorities regarding the Kingdom of Morocco's territorial integrity and recent measures to support (Polisario)".
