I am a Muslim, a Christian, a Jew and a Buddhist too. If you don't like it, then this place is not for you, but as long as you don't force your beliefs on anyone, you're welcome to join in, it doesn't matter if you're a liberal, a republican or just simply you.
Sadist bastards in Sudan torture a woman in public with a whip and laugh about it while she screams for mercy. A bunch of spectators standing around appear to be enjoying the show. Spineless, hating cowards the lot of them! It will make your blood boil and probably give you nightmares, so proceed with caution....

Update 12/15/10, Human Rights activists get arrested:
He should also be forced to permanently wear a clown suit with a note attached to his back saying "I'm not funny, but feel free to make fun of me for being a dunce", and he must share his jail cell with Ahmadinejad.
It looks the Lebanese government, which of course includes Hizb'allah, has chosen to celebrate the return of a maniac who personally bashed in the head of a four year old little girl rather than maturely receive their people back from their prisoner swap with Israel. Hmm ... well, I guess rolling out the red carpet for a sociopath merely to enjoy a juvenile celebration of "gotcha!" is at least one thing Siniora and Nasrallah can agree on, n'est-ce-pas? Let's call it ... hate-motivated coexistence.
I gotta say something else too. It's really so very ... nerdy. Seriously, grow up. Are they kidding?
Nasrallah: "Sammy. Duuuuuuude, you killed a four year old ... coooooool. That musta been awesome to watch ... I could just imagine ... there musta been like ... brains oozing?"
Excuse me but these guys are old enough to be grandparents yet they act like they're in middle school. If anyone from Lebanon has video of Siniora and Nasrallah ^5ing and giving each other a chest bump because they got a criminal back on their soil (hello? How dumb are they for being glad about that?), please send it to us here at Myrtus. However, don't be surprised if we're not surprised.
I have no doubt the good people of Lebanon, many of them our friends, are outraged and disgusted that they are represented by so-called leaders with "morals" like this. WTF? I am so sorry for you all. Change please, and I don't mean four quarters for a dollar.
Welcome to the politics of gutter hatred where no life is sacrosanct, and spilling the blood of innocent children is cause for governmental celebration. I don't care what your political agenda is, some things are beyond humanity.
A convicted killer who shot an Israeli father in front of his four-year-old daughter then bashed her head against a rock until she was dead has been released to Lebanon as part of a controversial prisoner swap between Israel and Hizbollah.
He was greeted with a red-carpet welcome at the Lebanese border, with Hizbollah officials and well-wishers present, and then delivered to Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport by presidential helicopter, where he was greeted by the new Lebanese president, Michel Suleiman, the prime minister, Fouad Siniora, and parliamentary speaker, Nabih Berri.
And, just so you know, they are celebrating the guy responsible for the deaths of ALL the people in this photo, which was taken one week before Kuntar made it one of their last:
Some hero. Thanks for the government accountability.
Where political leaders are idolized as if they're something godly, their sainthood is legally shrouded and codified, their holiness made untouchable even after they're long dead and gone and insulting them is not only deemed blasphemous, but also punishable by law.
I don't think there are many things more corrupt than an organization that calls itself, "the party of God" gloating and drooling over human body parts they collected, and then putting them on public display as trophies. This is not Islam. From everything I've learned, this is the type of activity true Islam seeks to abolish. But rest assured, thanks to Nasrallah's latest antic, more people will grow more confused and convinced that Islam is nothing more than a death cult. Can we get rid of these irresponsible leaders already that cannot see beyond their own hatred and are working feverishly to create a clash of civilizations? To Nasrallah, Islam has lost all its spirituality and is pure politics.
Hizbullah on Tuesday launched a website in Hebrew featuring images of IDF soldiers' body parts, which the Shiite organization's leader Hassan Nasrallah claims to be holding since the Second Lebanon War.
The website features shocking pictures of body parts and IDF uniform. At the top of the site, Hizbullah wrote in Hebrew, "These images are examples of what we have. They are presented as a verification of the remarks made by Hizbullah secretary-general, Mr. Hassan Nasrallah, on Wednesday, January 2, 2008.
"These body parts belong to 'Israeli' soldiers killed in southern Lebanon during the 'Second Lebanon War'. The presentation of these pictures, despite the humanitarian pain involved, is the consequence of the 'Israel' government's deliberate neglect in terms of revealing the fate of your sons."
If Israel or the USA did this with Muslims they killed rather than treat them with basic respect and burial, what do you think the response would be?
My issue is this. These two senators are having the wrong conversation. Of course I know they are running to become President of the USA, but they are still senators with jobs to do, yes? So, I wonder what they have to say about the fact that Congress just gave the United States Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) a significant budget cut. If they are really interested in civil rights protections that have a current and direct impact on today's society, their outrage should be focused here, not on pointless conversations about the past. I don't know if they ever got to vote on the budget which slashed funding for the USCCR, but if they did, I wonder how their votes went. Anyone up for some research? I do know this much. The hearings for the budget went before the Senate Judiciary Committee in September, and although neither Clinton or Obama are on that committee, both their colleagues from their party (Schumer from NY and Durbin from Il) are.
The conversation they are having is really ridiculous in light of all this. The USCCR was specifically set up after the 1957 US Civil Rights Act to ensure that the various state and municipal institutions throughout the nation adhere to federal civil rights standards. They conduct inquiries, hold hearings, write reports, and submit them to Congress. It's the USCCR that will investigate a police department for abusive behavior, or a university for lack of equal access, etc. Each state has its own advisory committee, made up of civilian experts in the field of civil rights. They inform their regional director -- a federal employee -- of any problems they know of, and hold public hearings; and the regional directors and civil rights analysts conduct the investigations, interview pretty much whomever they want, and create a public record. Overall, it's a pretty good system based upon public-private partnerships.
What frustrates me is that while two senators point their fingers at each other over who played what role in the development of the American civil rights movement decades ago, the very commission set up to oversee it currently has no regional director for the western or central regions, which means that the following states are not adequately regarded in terms of how their civil rights standards are upheld: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Is anybody in goverment having a conversation about this?
It gets worse. Not only is the western region lacking a regional director, it also has no civil rights analyst, which means the advisory committees for that entire district are basically stagnant with nobody to whom to report abuses in their states (and you'll notice several border states there). Therefore, with no regional director, no civil rights analyst, and, hence, no ability for advisory committees appropriately to function, there is really no activity going on for the US Commission on Civil Rights in the states of: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Just think of the issues regarding immigration and law enforcement, prisons, etc. that are going unchecked.
Wait? You think that's bad? You know I'm not done and that it gets even worse.
The Director for the whole USCCR just resigned. This is his last week. So now the entire commission is without a director.
This is not about partisan politics, it's about governmental hypocrisy found on both sides of the aisle. In this case, perhaps instead of providing us all with lessons in ego and posturing by arguing over what happened in the 1960s, these two bickering SENATORS (and not merely presidential candidates) can get to work by trying to get the United States Commission on Civil Rights back on track, starting with some adequate funding by Congress, so that real social change can occur for our grassroots stakeholders. Ya think?
I'm having difficulty wrapping my mind around this ... I mean, the thinking behind what's going on here. On the one hand, gynecologists are being threatened and murdered in Iraq for supposedly violating the sanctity of Muslim women; and on the other hand, they are being murdered for not circumcizing girls. Somehow, to the militants, preventive medicine and health care are violations of Muslim females, but cutting off part of their genitalia is not. How does that work exactly unless it's about really hating women?
“Extremists say that [male] doctors are not allowed to see the private parts of women and two male doctors were reportedly killed last week after leaving their clinics. A message was left near their bodies saying that was the end for any doctor who insists in invading the privacy of Muslim women,” Mayada added.
In one case the extremists tried to carry out their threat. They kidnapped the son of a doctor and only released him after the doctor had closed his clinic in Karada district, in Baghdad,” Rafi said. “We are worried about women’s health in this country. Few of them have access to good medical care and now with the fear of male gynaecologists, few remain in the job and this could have a serious impact in the coming months.”
Rafi added that aggression against doctors who treat women had also been reported in the northern provinces. “We don’t know the exact number of doctors who have been killed but we can confirm that four doctors were killed in the north for refusing to circumcise young girls.”
Once again we see that the primary victims of the militants are in fact innocent Muslims.
There is a book called, "Home Grown Hate: Gender and Organized Racism," written by Abby Ferber. She theorizes that racist hate is born out of male sexual anxiety -- meaning, that insecurity toward women is dysfunctionally taken out upon "the other," by men who need to prove they (still) have power in their lives. Although she focuses mostly upon white racist groups, it would appear from the article above that Ferber's theory could apply to Islamist militants as well, n'est-ce-pas?
