"Jihad for Love" seeks gay Muslim audiences

It took gay Indian filmmaker Parvez Sharma six years to make "Jihad for Love," a documentary film about gay men and women trying to live Muslim lives in Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt and South Africa.

Now he says his challenge will be to make sure the movie reaches Muslim communities, even in countries where being homosexual remains a crime that could be punishable by death.

Who knows, maybe National Lampoon’s 72 Virgins can help raise the necessary awareness to put a stop to this bloody explosive suicide industry.

"Sicko" is in the eye of the beholder....

Yeah really!  In this case the "beholder" is none other than Michael Moore, and my friend Stefania builds a strong case against this particular "Sicko" to prove to prove that he is just that.

Stefania writes:

Hollywood leftie Michael Moore's new propaganda movie, 'Sicko', is being cheered by crowds of enthusiast anti-American Europeans and followers of evil Stalinist snake Fidel Castro, as it badmouths the American health system and praises socialized, state-controlled medicine. Calling it biased is to say little: rather, it's definitely a big lie. I have no doubt that Moore and his group of patients have received excellent medical treatment free of charge, as featured in the movie. Too bad that such a world-class system is denied to eleven million of Cubans, while wealthy white foreigners like him are given absolute priority and the best attention ever. Mr. Moore shows his total ignorance of the Cuban system when he claims that "Cuba spends $251 per person on health care." I need to remind him a few essential things. First, that number is mostly spent to fund the regime's self-proclaimed "internationalist humanitarian missions", aimed at winning political support from the countries receiving the 'wonders' of the island's medicine. Second, part of it is designed for more health centers reserved for the elite and its foreign apologists. (read more here)

Algerians deserve some hugs....

This Algerian movie recently helped thousands of forgotten war heroes from Africa get proper compensation from the French government for helping free France from Nazi Germany during WWII.

History of the World Part II

At the end of Mel Brook's comedy History of the World Part I, we are treated to such unusal scenes as 'Hitler on Ice' and 'Jews in Space' in the upcoming Part II of this movie.  I have to wonder if Oliver Stone has decided to create his own short feature for this.

WorldNet Daily, yes I know they got an accuracy rating just shy of Debka, is reporting that Oliver Stone just might be in negotiations with Iran and Ahmadinejad to create a film about the controversial President of Iran.  I wonder what the working title of this would be?  'Spring Time for Ahmadinejad?'  Or 'Self Love?'

On a more serious note, if we believe this writer that is.  The concept he has of Jesus with the coming of the Mahdi is interesting to say the least.  Mainstream Chrisitan Bibles have Jesus, when He is offered up for cruxifiction, saying 'My kingdom is not of this world' and 'Would not my subjects be trying to free me;' which moves the concept of Christ's kingdom out of the material world.  Here we have Shiite Muslims falling more into line with the Hebrews of Roman occupied Israel and Judah in expecting a militant Messiah coming to liberate them from the yoke of their wordly oppressors, in this case the Mahdi as Messiah and a Christ figure cast in the role of John the Baptist who was not worhty to tie the sandals of the Messiah.

To end on an irreverant and some would think sacriligious note, could there be a movie on the missing years of the 12th Iman?  Something like 1100 Years Down the Well?  Thank you Mel Brooks for writing such comedic masterpieces as The Producers, Young Frankenstein, and Blazing Saddles.

Oscar Night

I'd like to thank the members of the Academy and the wonderful Hollywood fashionistas for putting the accent back on elegance and tradition, along with goodwill, unity, diversity and "going green".  Yes!  Thank you for rewarding talent rather than sex appeal, I kinda like that!  Heck someone(I forget who) even took the time to thank The United States Marine Corps.......at the Oscars?  WOOHOOO Imagine that! 

I also think Ellen deserves a big round of applause for doing such a marvelous job.  I honestly have never watched any of Ellen's stuff before.  Heck I don't even own a TV set, but I'm definitely going to buy one just so I can watch Ellen from time to time.  She is so FUNNY!

Speaking of elegance, however understated, even Jodie Foster and Diane Keaton managed to pull it off for a change.  How amazing is that!

The only things sort of out of place was Al Gore and Melissa Etheridge's wake up song that kinda didn't sound like music to my ears, and somehow she got an Oscar for it, but hey I kinda figure she got a lucky break there because she fit into the Oscar theme somehow, either with going green  or with diversity.  And how nice of her to thank her wife and her four children in front of a billion people audience.

Saudi Film ‘Keif Al-Hal’ Getting Rave Reviews in the Middle East

JEDDAH, 27 October 2006 — As the first ever feature-length Saudi film began showing on Eid at cinemas across the Middle East, Saudis were unable to watch the movie in the Kingdom due to a restriction on cinemas.

“Keif Al-Hal” (How Are You), starring Saudi actors Mees and Hisham Abdul Raheem and produced by Saudi producer Ayman Al-Halawani, began premiering at cinemas across GCC countries and the Middle East except Saudi Arabia.

“How come we’re unable to see our own first ever movie?” asked 35-year-old Saeed Abdul Aziz, who is from Riyadh and presently on holiday in Jeddah.

As it turns out, "The Bubble" was a mere blister, here today gone tomorrow.  The film probably had better chances getting attention with the original title: "Romeo and Julio", but what's the point really?
