AHA back in the headlines again

This time, Ms Ali wrote a children's book about a friendship between a Moroccan boy and a Jewish girl.  I can only guess where she wants to go with that one.

In her children's' book Adan and Eve, which was published today, controversial former Dutch politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali pulls no punches when it comes to listing prejudices. The story is about the impossible friendship between a Muslim boy and a Jewish girl.

But that's not all....Ms AHA is still trying to get somebody to pick up the tab for her safety expenses.

She is now attempting to launch a legal probe through the Dutch court system, to prove that the Dutch government promised to pay for her personal safety in Holland as well as abroad.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali wants to move back to Holland

Yep, she wants to move back home and I'm not surprised at all considering that Holland is the place to be these days.  Fitna anyone?  I'm guessing Geert Wilders isn't going to like it much, since neither he or Ms Ali like sharing the spotlight.

And BTW, word has it that Wilders wants to show his movie Fitna on April Fools Day, but who knows...he's not really that good at keeping his word, but he's pretty good at pissing people off, so we gotta give him at least that.

AMSTERDAM - Ayaan Hirsi Ali (Liberal VVD) would like to live in the Netherlands again. She said this in Monday's edition of De Pers. She wants to keep a permanent residence in the Netherlands but must be able to travel for her work.

Her dreams may be about to come true as French politicians and intellectuals come to her rescue.  They have responded by offering her worldwide protection but only if she takes up French citizenship. The Dutch government is refusing to protect her outside the country.

Once again, I can't resist questioning her motives.  Why would AHA consider living in France and not Holland?  I mean, it's not like Holland refuses to protect her, they just won't pay for her protection when she travels abroad.  All it takes is a few extra cops while she visits any host country anyway.  What's the big deal?

Ayaan Hirsi Ali speaks out against Geert Wilders anti-Koran film

Hirsi Ali rejects Geert Wilders' anti-Koran movie in her interview with Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant because all it's meant to do is provoke. 

She says she doesn't believe in banning books, whether it's the Koran or Mein Kampf.

No one knows for sure if this movie has even been made yet, but everyone is talking about it.  What if it's a hoax?

De in Amerika wonende Ayaan Hirsi Ali gelooft niet in de antwoorden van Geert Wilders op de grote vraagstukken in het islamdebat. En de film die de PVV-leider over de Koran maakt is volgens Hirsi Ali, die zelf de film Submission maakte, provocerend.

Dat zegt de oud-politicus in een interview met de Volkskrant.

Update 1/17:

How very kind of the Dutch government to give Pakistan the heads-up on Geert Wilders' movie (which BTW hasn't even been finished yet according to Wilders today).

Hopefully this countermeasure will do somewhat of a decent job preventing heads from rolling as a result of Wilders' irresponsible games disrupting the peace.

The Dutch embassy in Pakistan states the following on its website:

The Dutch government has been informed of Dutch member of parliament Geert Wilders’ plans to make a film. Wilders announced this during an interview with the Minister of Justice and the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations on 7 November 2007.
He said that the film would convey an anti-Islam message.
The film is yet to be released and the government has shared its concerns with Mr Wilders.

I noticed Indonesia (the largest Muslim country in the world with even closer ties to Holland) did not get the same memo.  I wonder why.

I also noticed some fake Wilders movie on YouTube and this so-called "Wilders movie poster" floating around.

Supposedly no one knows who made the poster, but if you look a little closer you'll see our famous Pakistani "Rage Boy" peeking at us way down in the corner and I'm sure you'll be able to figure out at least which part of the world it originated, not that it matters or anything.

Update 1/18:

The tension surrounding Wilders's anti-Islam movie continues to grow.  Just yesterday Wilders himself had a hefty emotional outburst lashing out at Eindhoven's acting mayor, telling him to back off and stop criticizing his movie before even having seen its content.

Later on in the day the good for nothing Arab European League announced the making of their own movie as a countermeasure against Wilders' anti-Islam propaganda. 

Sorry, but I won't link to AEL, not just because of their link to Hezbollah, but also because I categorize them as extreme haters, believe it or not, even worse than Wilders.

NOTE: Several readers have asked why I haven’t written about Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s current situation. Given my past interest in her life and career, and my review of her autobiography, it doesn’t seem consistent to ignore the latest flap, does it?

My silence is merely a sign of my ambivalence concerning Hirsi Ali. This is a complex, ambitious woman. But she is limited by her lack of education in Western history, and it shows in some of her statements and decisions. As I said in the above-cited review:

During her life in Holland, Ali shed her Muslim faith and became an atheist. That part of her journey seems fated: once the fire has been extinguished, it cannot be lit again. So she sets out to discover what her life will be as a non-believer. In the book at least, she appears not to have a quarrel with religion per se, though she is suspicious of any inroads it might make into political life. One can hardly blame her. However, the limits of her personal history are visible here: she doesn’t know enough history to understand that the religious impulse can be retained without harming the commonweal. The consuming, all-or-nothing Islam of her childhood predestines her passage from a totalitarian ‘all” to an equally doctrinaire “nothing.” That is the pity of trading one kind of fundamentalism for another.

Did Queen Beatrix cause Hirsi Ali to move back to NL?

As I mentioned before, Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands recently delivered her annual address to help kick-start the new parliamentary session for the upcoming year. 

Queen B. stated in her speech that the country is facing big challenges due to the population's ageing process being on the rise, the shortage of labor in healthcare and education and too many people feeling unsafe among other things. She announced that the government plans to be less tolerant towards crime and its commitment to help improve safety and mutual respect and tolerance in society.

So exactly how is the government going to achieve these goals? 

By saving lots more money than it already has. 

And exactly what type of crime is the queen referring to?

Muslim Extremism perhaps?

Our country has many grounds for hope and confidence. The economic prospects are good. Entrepreneurs and consumers are optimistic. Young people are able to find jobs quickly.
There are also hopeful developments in fields other than the economy. More and more people are willing to make an effort to help each other and improve our living environment.
Now in particular we have opportunities to take measures that will make our country stronger. We must take full advantage of these opportunities.
Our country has major tasks ahead. We know that the average age of our population is rising. Businesses and public services like health care and education are facing labour shortages. This raises the question of how we will safeguard our prosperity and well-being in the future.
The growth of our economy will also have to take place in a more sustainable manner.
Too many people feel unsafe. Preventing and combating terrorism, crime and violence continue to demand much of our attention.

With its budget for 2008, the Government is making a contribution to meeting these challenges.

The budget for next year shows a surplus. The Government expects that this will be the case in the years after 2008 as well. In this way we are saving for the future.
To foster a cleaner and more efficient economy, the Government is raising taxes on consumption and on environmentally harmful activities. The Government plans to use the revenues from these taxes to decrease the tax burden on employment. This will help more people find work. All these measures in conjunction mean that many people’s purchasing power will not rise in 2008. People with lower incomes are being spared as much as possible. A greater contribution is being asked from those with higher incomes. The Government expects that over the next several years taken together, its policies will not increase the tax burden on business or the public, and that purchasing power will rise.

Dutch Parliament says NO to Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Dutch parliament has decided today that if Ayaan Hirsi Ali wants to continue living outside of The Netherlands, going forward, she'll have to pay the cots for her own personal security.  If she decides to stay in The Netherlands however, she's guaranteed government funded protection just like before she moved to the US. 

Surprisingly even her old buddy Geert Wilders thinks it's insane to expect the government to pay for her security forever and he too lives under strict government protection, so go figure.

OK, we know AHA makes a good living, so she can probably afford to pay for her own safety, but I personally think her current employer should pay for it or at least meet her halfway with the bills.

This just in...

Dutch authorities told Hirsi Ali they were no longer willing to finance her personal security while living in the US and American authorities have refused to pick up the bills too, so she decided to move back to The Netherlands where she's guaranteed shelter and the same security measures she had previously enjoyed.

Emergency debate

The Green Left party in the Dutch parliament wants an emergency debate with the Ministers of Justice and Internal Affairs over the protection of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. The party wants to find out if the Dutch government has investigated all the possibilities to protect Hirsi Ali abroad. The Green Left draws a parallel with the case of the British author Salman Rushdie. A fatwah was declared on him in Iran following the publication of his book The Satanic Verses. The British government watched over Rushdie's safety also when he was abroad.

So I'm sitting here thinking what could I possibly say about Miss Ali that hasn't already been said before?

I thought first things first...

What's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about Hirsi Ali?

Without hesitation the word "extremist" comes to mind.

Once a Muslim, always a muslim...oh no!

If you take a look at Hirsi Ali's bio you'll see that within a relatively short period of time, she went from leading a life as an extremely devout Muslim, where Allah and his prophet Mohammed are the center of the universe, to an absolute atheist solely living for the here and now, while battling the forces of darkness that shaped her into being the person that she is today.

I say good for her if that makes her happy, but if she wants to be at the forefront of creating a happier world for all, she'll need to do a lot more than just criticize, dish out insults and sign book deals to keep feeding that extremism that's fueling the fires which force her into hiding 24/7.

          

The way I see it, her hostile one-way approach to discredit the entire religion of Islam, icluding over a billion of its followers mirrors that of most political extremists around the world, especially that of Muslim extremists who are bent on discrediting the rest of the world that doesn't follow their views.  The end result of their discriminatory politics is all the same: polarization, anger and destruction.

She can claim she's an atheist all she wants, it neither makes her objective nor have a monopoly on the truth.  She can't deny the fact that she's a product of Islam.  I don't care what she says, the radical form of Islam she was born into and raised with is ingrained in her, it obviously has shaped her thinking and is the main driving force behind her quest to seek revenge against a society that wronged her.

Her harsh criticism towards Islam, demanding change in areas that have had a direct negative impact on her own personal life, wouldn't be half as bad if she didn't focus only on the negative most of the time.  You can't just demand change and dish out insults for shock effect to get people's attention without offering comprehensive viable solutions that would be beneficial to all in return.

 

And I still don't understand how she ended up getting employed by one of the world's most influential think-tanks...and a rightwing one to boot.  I mean if you think about it, it's pretty unusual for rightwingers to form an alliance with minorities let alone atheists...but what do I know, maybe atheist minorities are the wave of the future.  Would be nice if they could start thinking of a good campaign to regulate religion and ban it from governments around the world altogether.

Anway, like I said before in a previous post, if anything, I think she's incredibly crafty at riding the wave of popular opinion jumping from one extreme to another in the face of adversity in whichever society she happens to find herself at any given time.
