According to Dutch Newspapwer AD, Holland is planning to establish the first Islamic hospital in Rotterdam two years from now.
About 45 specialists and 275 nurses and paramedics are expected to perform their jobs according to Dutch standards, but they don't have to be Muslims to work there. However, they do have to respect Islam and its customs.
As you might expect, this is causing yet another outburst of disagreements in Dutch parliament.
As the heated debate continues........
P. Batenburg, President of The Board of Directors at the St. Franciscus Hospital in Rotterdam adamantly rejects the plans for launching an Islamic Hospital in his town, based on it's nature to promote "apartheid".
He says that the St. Franiscus Hospital already has everything in place catering to Muslim needs, prayer facilities, specially certified halal food, separate washing facilities for men and women...
He says: "we have everything [that this new hospital plans to implement], except we don't allow patients to have a say in whether they'd receive treatment by a male or female. If we were to do that we would have to hire a male and female for every area of specialty". He thinks that something like that wouldn't be feasible even for the planned Islamic hospital. He says: "we select our specialist based on quality".
Good for you, Mr. Batenburg!
